About
We are a tuning/modifying shop in Norwich Norfolk specialising in fast road, track day and race cars.
With over 30 years experience (see history below) in servicing and modifying, Fast Eddy can help you enhance your car's performance. Remember though, a car can be given more power and most importantly torque, but a car is only faster/safer on the road/track with appropriate suspension and brake modifications too.
We can supply & fit most tuning parts to enhance your vehicle's performance both in speed and handling and also carry out engine/brake servicing. Only quality parts are used and work is to a very high standard whilst at very reasonable rates. We hold regular rolling road days to check/prove power figures before and after tuning work (see events)
Our trading partners (suppliers) have been carefully selected for quality, service and value for money. This list of reliable suppliers is growing continually to offer a large range of both standard and uprated products being offered, so if you do not see what you are after please ask.
I can take payment in cash, cheque or PayPal for mail order items.
History
Well, where do I start!
Speed has been in the family for generations. My grandfather had his own garage, was a highly gifted engineer and a bit of an inventor too. He had many fast cars from the time including a couple of top spec Jags. Before that my Great Grandfather apparently had to have the quickest horse in the town! My father was a top engineer also and had a passion for fast motorcycles and cars and that rubbed off on my brother and myself. We lived only a couple of miles away from Santa Pod Raceway and used to go as a family quite often. Other times, my brother and I used to cycle nearby, dump our bikes and sneak in to the pits across the fields!
I started learning the technical side of things at an early age by taking an interest and helping both my Grandfather and father working on their toys. It was obvious then that there is a certain skill in the genes. It boils down to a passion to understand how things work, fixing them without compromise when they go wrong and seeing how they can be improved.
My brother got his first motorbike when I was only 11 and I got my own when I was 14. It was something special but needed some work. It was made in Italy by Garelli and already had a racing petrol tank and handle bars. By the time I could ride it had been extensively modified and would hit 70mph when all the other sports 49cc bikes were doing around 50mph. I would keep up with 100cc bikes!
I had a couple of larger bikes but had trouble staying on as I did not like slowing down for corners so I moved to four wheels.
I first had a Fiat 500 but rolled it over before long. My next car was a Fiat 128 3P, a sports 1300. This was quite a car with only a few mods. It had around 80 hp and weighed very little. It would surprise many people and would beat 2ltr Cortina's on the 1/4 mile!
I then moved to real power with a 3ltr Capri when I was only 18. I bought it while my parents were away on holiday, as I knew they would not approve of me having one. I stripped the top end and fitted an up rated cam, reground the valves and fitted new head and inlet manifold gaskets, which was a delicate operation as it was a V engine. I had a few of these and 2.8i's in various states of tune and was gained my name of 'Fast Eddy (the back axle kid)' from the Chairman of the car club I was in as I regularly blew diffs! I tried other cars like Lotus's and BMW/s, but ended up with an old Mk1 Capri, which I recently sold after 18 years!
It was a 3ltr of course. It was completely stripped, restored and modified with up rated suspension, brakes, racing replica wide arches/paint and a new 4ltr TVR V8 engine with 275bhp. It was quite an animal and not much would touch it on the road. I had a feature in Fast Car in 1991.
I sold the engine from this car to get married in 1993 and started playing with Renault Turbo's (two 5's, two 11's and a 21) They were all great cars. The 21 Turbo had torque steer/traction problems at 230bhp so I decided to look for something else. I saw an article on a Pulsar Gti-r. This was a very rare car at the time, but I found on locally Scole Engineering, Diss. It was one of the partner's own cars and was in superb condition. I modified this very carefully and ended up with a 315bhp on std engine internals. This returned a 0-60 time a Trax 2002 of 4secs exactly and a 1/4 mile at the Pod of 13.15.
I progressed to a Skyline R32 GTR which was awesome until it blew up for some strange reason! This has achieved 0-60 in 3.95secs and a 1/4mile of 12.67 at a reasonable low state of tune. It is now being modified to produce 'big power'!!!!!
I now have another Pulsar Gti-R which has up rated internals and is currently running around 300hp at only 1bar of boost. This should be capable of 3sec 0-60's and 12sec 1/4 mile times soon.
Those who know me will have seen my mad Metro van. Stripped out 16V Gti modified to 135bhp for fast personal deliveries!
I think that is enough about me. What have you got?
